If there’s one thing that people know about us, it’s that we’re somehow connected with NASA. How is that possible?

In the early 1970s, NASA developed a pressure-absorbing material to help cushion and support astronauts during lift-off. The material was temperature-sensitive and it evenly distributed body weight. NASA released this material to the public in the 1980s.

Another set of scientists, at the soon-to-be-merged companies Fagerdala in Sweden and Dan-Foam in Denmark, continued development on NASA’s creation. After nearly a decade and millions of research dollars, they perfected TEMPUR material for use in mattresses.

After TEMPUR products were released to the public in 1991, the success was instant. Today people in more than 96 countries worldwide turn to TEMPUR for the superior support and comfort that the brand provides.

To keep up with this ever-growing demand, in 2001 TEMPUR expanded into North America, building an R&D and engineering centre in Duffield, Virginia and a fabrication plant in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition the research facility and factory in Denmark has been extended considerably over the years to meet the increasing demand for TEMPUR products from all over the world.

New and improved products continue to be added to the TEMPUR mattress and pillow range. As part of this improvement and drive to have a mattress which feels perfect for everybody, Tempur has introduced three mattresses collections with three different comfort levels:

The TEMPUR® Contour (for a firmer feel)

The TEMPUR® Cloud (for a softer feel)

The TEMPUR® Sensation (for support and ease of movement)

And in 2016 we are proud to launch a fourth collection which combines the sleep-transforming benefits of TEMPUR material with Precision™ Micro Coils:

The TEMPUR® Hybrid (for support and faster response)

These collections are designed to suit individual sleep preferences while delivering the superior support and comfort that TEMPUR is known for.

We’ve also expanded our product range to include a selection of pillows, bed frames, bed bases and accessories to provide you with everything you need for your best night’s sleep. Our products are sold in retailers around the world, as well as directly from this website.
